The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai for Saturday and Sunday, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated locations. Mumbai has been battered by rains throughout this week following the late onset of the monsoon, throwing normal life out of gear.

Due to heavy rainfall and waterlogging between Nalasopara & Virar, all Western Railway suburban local train services are delayed by 15–20 minutes, the Western Railway informed in a post on social media.

As per the IMD's district-wise forecast the city is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with isolated extremely heavy spells on July 4 and 5. The probability of the forecast was categorised as "very likely".

The IMD also forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Mumbai on Monday, while heavy rainfall is likely at a few places on Tuesday.

As per BMC officials, neighbouring Thane and Palghar districts have also been placed under a red alert for Saturday and Sunday, with a forecast of extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places. A red alert has also been sounded for neighbouring Raigad district for Friday and Saturday.

A BEST bus is stuck due to severe waterlogging on Kale Marg near Kamani, Kurla West. Traffic movement in the area is heavily affected.

Motorists are advised to avoid Kale Marg towards Kamani/LBS Marg and use alternate routes until the water recedes. Commuters should expect delays in the area.

  • Huma Mall Junction (Vikhroli)
  • Gandhinagar Junction
  • Paresh Park Market.

The Municipal Corporation administration urges citizens to take note of this and avoid traveling on these roads.

The Central Railway in its 2 pm update said that the suburban local trains, are operating normally.

Mumbai Rains Live: 2A Metro Technical Glitch Resolved

Earlier, in a post on X, the MMMOCL said trains between Dahanukarwadi and Dahisar East were being operated on a single-line bi-directional system, allowing movement in both directions on one track under regulated operations.

It stated that technical teams responded immediately, operated services on the unaffected track during the repair work to minimise inconvenience to commuters, and resumed normal operations on both tracks after resolving the issue.

"The technical issue has now been fully resolved, and Metro services on both tracks have resumed normal operations," MMMOCL said.

A technical glitch briefly affected operations on Mumbai's Metro Line 2A, causing train delays during the peak hour. A technical glitch between Dahisar East and Kandarpada metro stations on Line 2A, which runs between Dahisar East and Andheri West, affected the operation.

Metro services are widely used by commuters during the monsoon to avoid traffic congestion caused by waterlogging.
