Pune shifts to alternate-day water supply from June 15 to Aug. 20 as dam levels fall. PMC targets 500 MLD savings, bans non-essential water use, and tightens conservation rules.

Water level in Mumbai's seven lakes stood at 10.72% as of 6 a.m. on June 15. The total capacity of these lakes stands at 14.47 lakh million litres.

IMD has issued a yellow alert for over 20 Maharashtra districts, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rain in Mumbai, Pune and Konkan. The state may also see strong winds, heat persistence and continued monsoon activity.

The current stock in Mumbai lakes is just 12.49% of the total capacity, raising concerns about water availability in the city.

Monsoon is expected to enter Delhi and the National Capital Region between June 25 and June 30, according to IMD. After Delhi, it is likely to enter Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Mumbai is expected to be warm and partly sunny Tuesday with highs of 36C, breezy afternoons, and a 68% chance of showers later in the day, says AccuWeather.

People with higher incomes can afford air conditioning, work from home and avoid outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day. Lower-income households often have none of those options.

Some regions of the country are also expected witness heat wave conditions including parts of East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Vidarbha, West Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh.

IMD has issued Red, Orange And Yellow Alert for many districts of Kerala with the probablity of very heavy to extremely heavy raindall expected during the next 24 hours.

Several parts of Tamil Nadu may see frequent downpours.

IMD has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph at isolated places in Mumbai and Thane.
