Nifty Pharma rose 0.29% and Nifty IT edged up 0.03%. All other sectoral indices traded lower, led by Nifty Media down 1.97% and Realty down 1.67%.

Benchmark indices ended the session marginally lower, with Nifty at 23,618, down 0.14%, and Sensex at 75,200.85, lower by 0.15%.

Nifty Realty fell the most, down about 2.14%, followed by Auto, PSU Bank, and Bank indices which declined over 1.5%. Nifty IT was the only sector to gain, rising around 0.6%.

Bitcoin dropped to its lowest since May one amid US-Iran war risks, falling over 2% and triggering $500 million in liquidations in early Asian trading.

On the sectoral front, Nifty Media led gains, rising 2.13%, followed by Nifty IT up 0.56% and Nifty FMCG higher by 0.46%. Nifty Auto was marginally higher.

Nifty IT was the only sectoral loser, falling 1.99%. Nifty Oil and Gas rose 0.04%, while Nifty FMCG, Auto, Energy, Realty, Defence and Media gained between 0.34% and 0.90%.

The Nifty 50 closed down 1.83% at 23,579.55, while the Sensex fell 1.92% to 74,559.24, reflecting broad-based selling across sectors.

On Friday, benchmarks ended lower, tracking negative global cues. The Nifty 50 closed 0.62% lower at 24,176.15, down 150.50 points, while the Sensex ended 0.66% lower at 77,328.19, down 516.33 points.

M&M, Bajaj Auto, NTPC, HDFC Life and L&T supported the Nifty 50, while Hindustan Unilever, TCS, ITC, Titan and Bajaj Finserv weighed on the index.

Nifty PSU Bank rose about 2.61%, leading sectoral gains, followed by Nifty Pharma and Nifty Realty. Meanwhile, HPCL rose 6.91%, BPCL gained 5.21%, and IOC advanced 4.26% during the session on reports of US nearing to end war with Iran.

Bitcoin's value has fallen more than a third since reaching its October peak of over $126,000.

The Nifty 50 closed 0.36% lower at 24,032.80, while the Sensex fell 0.33% to 77,017.79.

The Nifty ended 0.8% higher to close above the 24,000 mark.The Sensex also gained 0.8%, rising over 600 points to settle at 77,303.

The derivatives markets are also pointing to a more optimistic shift.
