On Friday, The Nifty 50 closed 49.85 points, or 0.21%, lower at 23,366.70. The Sensex ended 116.67 points, or 0.16%, down at 74,243.34.

Nifty India Defence rose 1.08%, followed by Nifty Energy at 0.6% and Nifty Auto at 0.54%. Nifty Realty gained 0.47%, while Nifty Pharma advanced 0.38%.

Alongside SEBI's allegations of large-scale financial misrepresentation, lender Canara Bank has initiated debt recovery proceedings.

The NSE Nifty 50 down 77.95 points, or 0.33%, at 23,405.60. The BSE Sensex fell 303.67 points, or 0.41%, to 74,346.17.

The NSE Nifty 50 rose 0.43% to close at 23,483.55, while the BSE Sensex gained 0.52% to end at 74,649.84.

The Sensex fell as much as 0.68% to 74,267.34, nearly 1,000 points below the day's high of 75,357.93.

During Friday's session, the Nifty swung from a gain of 0.4% to a loss of as much as 1.8%, touching an intraday low of 23,484.75.

Nifty Oil and Gas fell 2.58%, leading sectoral losses, while Nifty Auto declined 2.29%. Nifty Consumption, Metal and Rural fell between 1.85% and 2.01%.

Nifty Energy, Realty, Auto and Consumption also traded higher, with gains ranging from 0.42% to 0.87%.

Nifty Metal rose 1.1% and Energy gained 0.58%, leading sectoral advances at close. Defence and FMCG indices also ended higher. Financial Services fell 0.65%, Realty declined 0.52% and PSU Bank dropped 0.46%, among the top laggards.

Nifty FMCG declined 0.16%, the only sector trading in the red. Nifty Pharma was largely flat, showing minimal movement during the session.

Both SEBI and the Bharat InvITs Association have been working closely with states, making presentations and providing inputs on the regulatory structure, product design and implementation roadmap for InvITs.

Nifty Bank and financial services indices led gains, rising around 0.8% and 0.77%, respectively. On the downside, media, realty and IT indices declined, with media falling the most during trade.

Nifty India Defence was the top-performing sectoral index at close, gaining 1.43%. Nifty IT was the worst-performing sectoral index, falling 0.56%. Nifty FMCG, Media, Bank and Financial Services indices also closed lower.

Nifty Oil & Gas was the top-performing sector, while FMCG lagged. Bank and Metal indices snapped a three-day losing streak, while Pharma and IT ended lower after recent gains.

Nithin Kamath warned that rising margin trading exposure in illiquid stocks could worsen market selloffs and raise risks for brokers and investors.

Benchmark indices ended the session marginally lower, with Nifty at 23,618, down 0.14%, and Sensex at 75,200.85, lower by 0.15%.

Importantly, the regulator observed that the promoter shareholding will remain unchanged at around 63.63% before and after the transaction, while public shareholding will also remain unaffected.

Nifty Realty fell the most, down about 2.14%, followed by Auto, PSU Bank, and Bank indices which declined over 1.5%. Nifty IT was the only sector to gain, rising around 0.6%.

On the sectoral front, Nifty Media led gains, rising 2.13%, followed by Nifty IT up 0.56% and Nifty FMCG higher by 0.46%. Nifty Auto was marginally higher.
