Authorities have launched a search operation after Michael Mosley, 67, a doctor, writer, and British journalist went missing on his holiday in Greece. According to a CNN report, his wife filed a missing complaint with local police on Thursday morning, and his agent confirmed his disappearance.

The doctor was last seen on Wednesday on the Greek Island of Symi, where he went for a walk. The BBC reported that a search team of 25 members, including firefighters, volunteers, and police officers was looking for Mosley.

Drones as well as police dogs are being used to reach remote areas. A helicopter was also deployed from the Greek capital, Athens, to assist in the search.

Mosley and his wife, Clare, were on the beach, when he decided to go for a walk to the centre of the island. He had left his phone behind.

Officers are checking CCTV footage to track his visibility and the operation is primarily focused on the Pedi area of Symi after a woman confirmed his presence in the vicinity, the BBC report said.

The island's mayor, Eleftherios Papakalodoukas, said according to firefighters working on the rescue operation it was "impossible" Mosley was still there.

"It is a very small, controlled area, full of people, so if something happened to him there, we would have found him by now," he said in the report.

An appeal to the public to notify the authorities if they spotted him was posted on a local Facebook group along with his photo.

"We are supporting the family of a British man who is missing in Greece and are in contact with the local authorities," said a foreign office spokesperson.
