Trainer Plane Crashes In Baramati, Second Mishap Since Fatal Ajit Pawar Tragedy

A trainer plane managed by a private company crash landed into Baramati airport in Pune on Sunday, according to NDTV. The accident did not lead to any casualties, with aircraft taking minimal damage. The crash occured at 12;35 p.m. inside the airport complex and close to the runway.

This incident took place seven months after a similar crash in Pune killed Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Pawar and four others died when their Learjet 45 plane crashed close to Baramati airport on Jan.28.

 He was travelling from Mumbai to Baramati to attend public meetings ahead of the local body polls next month when tragedy struck. Four others, including Pawar's security personnel, pilots and crew, also died in the crash. The aircraft, a Learjet 45, was operated by a company named VSR.

Visuals from the spot showed fire and smoke, mangled remains of the plane, and ambulances rushing the injured to nearby hospitals.

The 66-year-old was the nephew of NCP founder Sharad Pawar and the cousin of Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule. He is survived by his wife Sunetra and two sons - Parth and Jay.

Maharashtra Congress leader and ex minister Dr. Nitin Raut has expressed deep shock and expressed apprehension about it being a sabotage. He has demanded investigation in the incident. He also cautioned against the rampant use of helicopters and small aeroplanes by political leaders seeking to cover more areas in a day.

Ajit Pawar in 2023, led the mutiny in NCP, which led to split in the party. It was divided into two factions, one was led by him and the other was led by Sharad Pawar. He later joined the NDA government and became the Deputy Chief Minister. However, recently there were talks of an NCP reunion as the two factions in the latest Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation contested together.
