On Monday, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation announced a holiday for all BMC, government and private schools and colleges in Mumbai due to heavy rains. Earlier it had announced a holiday for the first session, but later extended it for the second session as well.
A civic official told PTI that there will be a high tide of 3.87 metres in the Arabian Sea at 4:09 pm. As it's a saucer-shaped city, high tides combined with heavy rains can trigger flooding as water doesn't get discharged into the sea at that time.
