The India Meteorological Department issued a red alert for Palghar and orange alert for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad. As more heavy downpour is expected to lash the city and surrounding areas, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) instructed on Monday evening that all government, private and municipal schools and colleges across Mumbai will remain closed until further notice.
Amid the torrential rains, the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has advised private offices and corporate hubs in Mumbai to allow employees to work from home and announced a half-day for non-essential, semi-government offices.

The IMD issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Raigad and Thane indicating moderate to intense spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 50-60 kmph with the possibility of thunder/lightning in some areas very likely to occur at isolated places.
The nowcast was announced at 10:30 p.m. and will be valid for the next three hours.

Incessant rain has triggered landslide at Kasara ghat and disrupted traffic on Mumbai-Nashik highway. Speaking on the incident Ayush Prasad, District Collector told PTI, "We have put comprehensive management and contingency plans in place for every scenario, including flash floods and temporary waterlogging. We are ensuring proper drainage wherever water accumulates. If we look at Trimbak city specifically, there are only two spots where water has collected to some extent, and even there, it is only about 6 inches deep."
He added, "The municipal corporation has worked incredibly hard on the drainage system, effectively controlling areas that face chronic flooding every year. For the two spots currently affected, we are removing dividers to facilitate the free flow of water. There is absolutely no cause for panic. People have already been evacuated and shifted to safer locations from all high-risk zones."
