OpenAI has begun a global rollout of GPT-6 in ChatGPT, bringing a new feature called Intelligent UI. With it, the chatbot can go beyond plain text and present answers using visual and interactive elements such as charts, graphics, forms, buttons and tools, based on what the user is asking. Mini apps like calculators and games can also be generated on the spot, without opening anything outside ChatGPT.
Who Gets GPT-6 and When
According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise subscribers are the first to get GPT-6 with Intelligent UI. Access for Free and Go users starts on October 8.

The two groups will get different versions of the model. Paid subscribers will use GPT-6 Sol, while Free and Go users will get GPT-6 Luna. For Enterprise customers, the update may only appear once their workspace administrator turns it on.
The new model applies to the Chat tab in ChatGPT. OpenAI said the models behind Work and Codex will stay the same.

What Intelligent UI Can Do
Intelligent UI lets ChatGPT pick the format that best suits a request. A recipe, for example, could come with a cooking timeline, a road trip plan could show stops on a map, and a topic could be explored by adjusting different inputs. Users can also ask for handy tools such as calculators or bill splitters, or even games, all without leaving the chat.
These elements don't have to wait for the full response. Charts or tools may pop up first, with the text filling in around them. Not every question gets the visual treatment, though. GPT-6 weighs each request and sticks to a plain written reply when graphics wouldn't add anything. Before launch, OpenAI checked the interfaces the model creates to make sure they are easy to follow, practical and not missing anything.
Faster Answers and Better Web Search
GPT-6 doesn't need to finish processing a request before it starts replying, so users can read the first part of an answer while the rest is still being generated. OpenAI says this cuts down waiting time.
Web search has also been improved. In OpenAI's tests, GPT-6 Instant began responding to queries that needed a web search 44 per cent sooner than GPT-5.6 Instant.

Stronger Safeguards
OpenAI says GPT-6 is better at resisting attempts to get around its safety rules, including those spread across several messages. New protections have also been put in place to guard against dangerous uses tied to cyberattacks, biological threats and violence. The model is also more likely to admit when it can't answer a question properly because it is missing key details or the right tools.
