The Maharashtra government has unveiled its official list of public holidays for 2024.

From traditional celebrations to national pride, the calendar promises a vibrant mix of occasions to unwind and reconnect with loved ones.

List Of Public Holidays In Maharashtra 2024

The General Administration Department of the government has released a circular that has a list of 24 public holidays for 2024. Here is the list:

January

  • Friday, January 26: Republic Day

February

  • Monday, February 19: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti

March

  • Friday, March 8: Mahashivratri

  • Monday, March 25: Holi

  • Friday, March 29: Good Friday

April

  • Tuesday, April 9: Gudi Padwa

  • Thursday, April 11: Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr)

  • Sunday, April 14: Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti

  • Wednesday, April 17: Ram Navami

  • Sunday, April 21: Mahavir Janmakalyanak

May

  • Wednesday, May 1: Maharashtra Din

  • Thursday, May 23: Buddha Pournima

June

  • Monday, June 17: Bakri-Id (Id-Ul-Zuha)

July

  • Wednesday, July 17: Moharum

August

  • Thursday, August 15: Independence Day

  • Thursday, August 15: Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi)

September

  • Saturday, September 7: Ganesh Chaturthi

  • Monday, September 16: Id-e-Milad

  • Wednesday, October 2: Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti

  • Saturday, October 12: Dasara

  • Friday, November 1: Diwali Amavasya (Laxmi Pujan)

  • Saturday, November 2: Diwali (Bali Pratipada)

  • Friday, November 15: Guru Nanak Jayanti

The public holidays are declared in the state of Maharashtra for the calendar year 2024 in the exercise of the powers of the Central Government under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (XXVI of 1881) entrusted to it by the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs vide its Notification No.39/1/68/JUDI-III, dated May 8, 1968.
