The GIFT Nifty, an early indicator of Nifty 50's performance, traded at 25,839. On Wednesday, the Indian equity benchmarks extended gains for the third consecutive trading session, led by the gains in Reliance Industries Ltd. and ITC Ltd. The BSE Sensex rose nearly 300 points to end at 83,734.25, while the NSE Nifty 50 rose 0.4% to end above 25,800. The broader markets — represented by the NSE Nifty 500 Index — outperformed benchmark indices, led by the rally in Godfrey Phillips' 20% rally.
Elsewhere in Asia, South Korea's Kospi touched a fresh record high on Thursday as markets in the region followed gains on Wall Street. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 1.1% in early trade, while Japan's Nikkei 225 and Topix were higher. Hong Kong and mainland China markets remained closed for the Lunar New Year break.

Gold was quoted at Rs 1,56,050 per 10 grams on Thursday, while silver was at Rs 2,43,630 per kg, according to the Bullions website.
In international markets, spot silver rose $2.06, or 3%, to $75.60 per ounce, and gold rose nearly 1% to $4,918.64 per ounce.
Analysts cited a firm US dollar and uncertainty around the US Federal Reserve’s policy outlook, while noting safe-haven demand and central bank buying supported prices on dips.

The US Federal Reserve minutes said several officials saw room for more rate cuts if inflation falls as expected, but several warned further cuts could lock in inflation.
Most participants said progress on disinflation could be slower than anticipated, while a vast majority said the labour market showed signs of stabilising.
Several officials flagged vulnerabilities in private credit, and most noted downside risks to labour remained.
