- Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called India the cornerstone of the global AI landscape
- Anthropic's India run-rate revenue has doubled over the last four months
- Indian nationals are the second largest market for Claude AI after the US
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, one of the marquee names in the ongoing India AI Impact Summit, delivered a keynote speech in which he declared India to be the cornerstone of the global landscape.
The Anthropic top boss, whose company is valued at more than $350 million, added that Anthropic's run-rate revenue in India has doubled over the past four months. He went on to identify Indian nationals as the second biggest market for the Claude AI model, trailing only the United States.
"India's adoption is even more extreme compared with the rest of the world," Amodei said, noting a unique "technical intensity" among Indian developers.
"We can do experiments with hundreds of millions of people. The number of people wanting to build here is huge, and the efficiency of the market exceeds anywhere else."
Amodei's statements on India and AI come on the back of several deals Anthropic signed during the AI summit, including a landmark deal with Infosys that will see them integrate Claude into agenic AI. This is in order to regulate industries like telecommunication, emphasising that the city's public infrastructure was a 'huge platform for testing and evolution.
Strategic Partnerships and Global Standards
The expansion is anchored by a landmark collaboration with Infosys to integrate Claude into "agentic" AI solutions for regulated industries like telecommunications and finance. Amodei praised Indian tech for setting a standard in the Global South, emphasising that the country's digital public infrastructure provides a "huge playground" for testing and evolution.
"There is a big gap between an AI model that works in a demo and one that works in a regulated industry," Amodei noted. "To close that gap, you need domain expertise. Infosys has exactly that kind of expertise," he said on the development.
