One of Hollywood's most prestigious nights, the Academy Awards, is now facing backlash after images showing the aftermath inside the Dolby Theatre went viral. While the ceremony celebrated landmark wins and glamorous fashion, photos of trash-strewn aisles have sparked intense debate online.
The discussion began when Matt Neglia, editor-in-chief of Next Best Picture, shared the image on X with the caption, "Clean up on aisle ALL #Oscars."

The picture shows seats littered with cups, wrappers, and discarded items-an unglamorous glimpse behind the scenes. The post quickly spread, drawing frustration from fans and criticism from environmental advocates. Many pointed out the contrast between celebrities' sustainability speeches and the messy aftermath left behind.
Social media reactions
One user wrote, "Save the mountains, keep them clean, blah blah blah... but look at the mess they leave. Nobody's buying it anymore."
Another commented, "Aren't some of them environmentalists? Where's all that 'protect the planet' energy now?"

Continuing the irony at the picture of the aftermath, one said, "So the people who are lecturing me on how to be a good person have no regard for cleaning staff and act like pigs? interesting."
Raising concerns over not being able to find a trash can at the Oscars, a user wrote, "Really? So this is where we're at? We just can't be bothered to find these -> ????️ <- anymore, huh? Utterly embarrassing and inexcusable. ????"
Another user expressed the systematics at the Oscars as the comment read, "Of course we can't expect immaculately dressed celebrities to clean up after them. But Oscars can surely afford additional staff to ensure smooth operation (collecting from them & cleaning the spills on the spot). Also, what's with “No Plastic” and all these celebrities' ecological concerns ????????????" The user also added a GIF saying "Do you not see the hypocrisy here?"

While users were furious, some believed that the seats in the picture weren't for the celebrities, but rather for their families or guests.
Here's what one of the users shared, "Not excusing this, but those are often the families the +ones extended extended guests-show us the seats/rows at the front/main level. I want to see if they're the same."
Another fan shared, "This isn't where the celebrities and stars sit correct? This is the family, general audiences, general academy member seating area correct?"
