Fans flooded social media after filmmaker SS Rajamouli revealed that a 25-minute sequence inspired by the 'Ramayana' for his upcoming film 'Varanasi' took a staggering 60 days to shoot. The revelation instantly sparked excitement, with many calling it "Rajamouli scale at its peak" and predicting another cinematic milestone.

In an interaction with The Wrap, the director said, "Most of my films are inspirations from the epics of Mahabharata and Ramayana, the Indian epics. In this film, I had a chance to literally shoot one episode from Ramayana."

But this wasn't a straightforward adaptation. Rajamouli explained that the 25-minute stretch is actually a layered combination of multiple sub-episodes. "That episode of the film is a combination of multiple sub episodes. So, this entire thing put together is about 25 minutes in the film, one time in the film," he shared.

Rajamouli said each segment of the sequence felt like making a new film, with different emotional and technical challenges that pushed the team to constantly adapt.

We had to put all our brains together and all our efforts together to shoot that sequence. We shot it for 60 days, and it is one of the most satisfying sequences for us," Rajamouli said, adding that it will be "one of the most memorable sequences of my films."

With Varanasi slated for release on April 7 next year, and featuring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, fans believe Rajamouli is once again preparing something truly epic.
