A new promotional clip featuring Varun Dhawan and comedian Samay Raina has become a surprise hit online, thanks to its spontaneous humour and the duo's easygoing chemistry. The video was released as part of the promotions for the song "Wow" from Varun's upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, but fans feel Samay's roast completely stole the spotlight.
The clip opens with Varun at the gym, confidently singing the track while exercising and trying to hype up the song. Midway through the performance, Samay suddenly cuts him off with a brutally honest remark.
“Nahi chalega gaana yaar,” Samay says casually, leaving Varun visibly amused.
Trying to continue the joke, Varun responds, “Kyun? Accha mujhe laga chal jati hai yaar,” suggesting he genuinely thought the song promotion was working. “Accha gaana banao, apne aap chalega yaar,” the comedian responds with his trademark deadpan expression.
Varun bursts into laughter and plays along with the roast instead of defending the song, making the exchange feel more like two friends joking around than a scripted promotional video. The clip ends with Samay simply saying “Wow” in a sarcastic tone, cleverly turning the song title itself into the punchline.

Varun Dhawan himself appeared to enjoy the roast. Sharing the video again on Instagram, the actor jokingly wrote, “What an a***e wow.”
The timing of the viral clip has also worked in favour of the song, which has already been trending on Instagram Reels. The hook step from Wow has been widely recreated by content creators and fans across social media platforms.
The song features Varun Dhawan alongside Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. Released on April 24 to coincide with Varun's birthday, the track is sung by Harrdy Sandhu and Kiran Bajwa, with music composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Rony Ajnali and Gill Machhrai.
Directed by David Dhawan, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is scheduled to release in theatres on June 5 and also stars Mouni Roy, Chunky Panday, Jimmy Shergill and Maniesh Paul.
