Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan's Border 2 has entered its third week in theatres and continues to hold a respectable position at the box office. While the film is no longer posting the explosive numbers seen during its opening phase, it remains steady enough to keep trade circles optimistic.
On Day 20, which fell on the third Wednesday, the war drama collected approximately Rs 1.75 crore. With this, its total India net collection now stands at Rs 316 crore. The worldwide gross has already crossed Rs 432 crore, underlining the film's strong overall performance.
The third week has followed a familiar pattern. The film saw a boost over the weekend before slowing down on weekdays. Here's how Week 3 has unfolded so far:
- Day 15 (Friday): Rs 2.85 crore
- Day 16 (Saturday): Rs 5.25 crore
- Day 17 (Sunday): Rs 7.25 crore
- Day 18 (Monday): Rs 2 crore
- Day 19 (Tuesday): Rs 2.5 crore
- Day 20 (Wednesday): Rs 1.75 crore
The Hindi occupancy on Wednesday stood at 6.45%, with night shows performing better than morning screenings. Although the percentage reflects a dip, it is considered stable for a film in its third week facing fresh releases.
Directed by Anurag Singh, the film stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh in key roles. Set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan War, Border 2 revisits the patriotic tone of the 1997 original while expanding the narrative to showcase coordinated operations of the Army, Air Force and Navy.
With Rs 224.25 crore earned in Week 1 and Rs 70.15 crore in Week 2, the film built a strong base early on. The coming weekend could once again provide a push, potentially taking it closer to the Rs 350 crore mark in India.
