In a shocking incident reported in Bengaluru a family allegedly attempted to stage a social media video by placing an elderly man inside a sack and taking him to a courier office, reported NDTV.

The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday under the limits of the Vyalikaval police station.

A group of five family members, including a woman, her husband, her mother-in-law and brother-in-law, arrived at a courier service office carrying a large package.

When the staff at the office asked about the contents of the package, the family did not respond.

Due to the lack of clarity, the staff opened the package to check its contents. On opening it, they found the woman's father inside the sack.

The discovery left the employees shocked.

According to sources cited by NDTV, the elderly man appeared uncomfortable and was having difficulty breathing while inside the sack.

The family later told officials that the act was planned as part of a social media reel.

They said through the video the idea was to highlight the issue of bus tickets being unavailable during the festive period around Ugadi and Ramzan.

They intended to show that “couriering a person” was the only option left for travel.

The family allegedly continued to argue with the courier office staff. They insisted that the “parcel” should be accepted, stating that they had come all the way and had already "made the effort".

Following this, the local police at Vyalikaval police station were informed about the incident.

The family was reportedly taken to the police station, where they recorded an apology video and admitted that their actions were irresponsible.
