Jogeshwari is being developed to accommodate 12 additional services. The first phase, costing Rs 76.48 crore, includes three platforms and three lines, with completion targeted for December.
At Vasai Road, the Rs 150 crore first phase is scheduled for completion by December 2027 and will support 12 additional services. A second phase is expected to enable three more services. The plans also include a proposed 5.73-km double-line bypass between Naigaon and Juchandra.
Mumbai Central will undergo a Rs 342 crore upgrade to accommodate 24-coach Linke Hofmann Busch, or LHB, trains. Its five existing platforms currently handle trains with 15 to 21 coaches. The work is targeted for completion in 2028.
Extending the platforms at Mumbai Central will allow Western Railway to add seats and berths to trains without increasing departures.
The four projects address different capacity requirements: additional services at Dadar, Jogeshwari and Vasai Road, and longer trains at Mumbai Central. Their completion schedules vary, with the Vasai Road first phase and Mumbai Central upgrade carrying targets of December 2027 and 2028, respectively. The December targets for Dadar and Jogeshwari do not specify a year.
