Ahead of the start of the new year 2025, the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi has declared its list of public holidays. The national capital in 2025 will have a total of 14 public holidays. This also includes holidays falling on the weekends. 

During the 2025 public holidays in Delhi, all government offices, schools and colleges will remain closed. Banks and post offices will also remain closed on these days. 

"In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 read with the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs' Notification No. U-11030/2/73-UTL dated 28/06/1973, the Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi is pleased to declare the holidays specified in the schedule below, to be Public Holidays in the National Capital Territory of Delhi during the year 2025 (Saka Era 1946-47)"” the Delhi government said in a notification.

In addition to these public holidays, banks in Delhi will remain closed on April 1, 2025, due to the annual closing of accounts.

"Further, as per RBI Guidelines, April 01, 2025, is declared as a public holiday u/s 25 of NI Act for annual closing of bank accounts," the notification said.

Full List Of Delhi Public Holidays 2025

The public holidays in Delhi start with Republic Day on Jan. 26. However, since the Republic Day will fall on a Sunday this year, there will be no extra holiday. 

The most number of holidays in Delhi will fall in March, April and October. In March, there will be two public holidays — Holi (March 14) and Id ul Fitr (March 31).

In April, there will be two public holidays on account of Mahavir Jayanti on April 10 and Good Friday on April 18. In October, there are going to be two public holidays on account of Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra on Oct. 2 and Diwali on Oct. 20.

All other months have one holiday each, including the ones falling on weekends.
