A one-man inquiry commission will be constituted under a retired judge to probe death of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa, CM E Palaniswami announced on Thursday. Her Poes Garden residence in Chennai will be turned into a memorial, he added.
Reacting to the Tamil Nadu government's decision, Apollo Hospitals said:
The decision to set up a committee to inquire into the cause of death of former TN CM Jayalalithaa is a good move.
The announcement about the investigation into her death raises speculation about a possible merger between the OPS-led faction of AIADMK and the one led by Palaniswami.

Jayalalithaa's niece, D Jayakumar, however, expressed displeasure over the announcement on turning Poes Garden into a memorial for Amma,
I have a moral, ethical and legal right over this house. They have no right to announce this without consulting legal heirs, that is me and my brother.
OPS had demanded a CBI probe in Jayalalithaa's death, following his rebellion against AIADMK. He had also demanded the conversion of her residence ‘Veda Nilayam' to a memorial.
According to The News Minute, Veda Nilayam, which belonged to Jayalalithaa and her mother, has many claimants including her niece and nephew.
The merger talks has been on hold since the OPS faction had demanded the EPS faction completely distance themselves from Sasikala.
A leader close to OPS told The News Minute:
If EPS and other cabinet ministers can distance themselves from TTV Dhinakaran, why can't they do the same with Sasikala? Till they do that, we cannot think of a merger. OPS' struggle started with his rebellion against Sasikala. How can we expect him to work with her now?
