Jan Suraaj Party's national president Uday Singh, alleged that a Rs 14,000 crore fund set up by the World Bank was "diverted" by Janata Dal (United)'s Nitish Kumar-led government to pay for votes in the Bihar 2025 Assembly elections.

In a statement, to reporters on Saturday, the president of former political strategist Prashant Kishor's party stated he received information regarding these funds being diverted for "doles and freebies", NDTV reported.

"Since June, till polls were announced, Rs 40,000 crore was splurged" by the Nitish Kumar government to "purchase" votes of the people through public money," he said.

"The scale was unprecedented. Even Rs 14,000 crore of the loan they received from the World Bank has been diverted for doles and freebies," he added.
