Amazon India is set to significantly scale its ultra-fast delivery service, Amazon Now, expanding it to 100 cities across the country as it sharpens its focus on the fast-growing quick commerce segment. The expansion will span major metros as well as Tier‑2 and Tier‑3 cities, including Lucknow, Kochi, Amritsar and Visakhapatnam, marking one of the company's most aggressive logistics rollouts in India to date.

As part of the push, Amazon plans to build more than 1,000 micro‑fulfilment centres across its network. These facilities are designed to enable deliveries within minutes to a few hours, depending on the category and location, bringing Amazon deeper into a segment currently dominated by specialised quick commerce players. The initiative is backed by an investment of Rs 2,800 crore, which will be used to strengthen infrastructure, expand warehousing capacity and enhance last‑mile delivery capabilities.

Amazon Now currently focuses on ultra-fast delivery of everyday essentials and groceries, but the company said the service will also include a wider assortment of products such as electronics and other frequently purchased items. Over one million products will be available for same‑day delivery, while an additional four million items are expected to be delivered the next day, leveraging Amazon's existing fulfilment and logistics backbone.

Amazon is also investing to strengthen safety, health and financial well-being measures for associates, while also expanding its operations network across the country. The company said the latest investment forms part of its previously announced commitment to invest over $35 billion in India by 2030, with a focus on business expansion, AI-led digitisation, export growth and job creation.

As part of the initiative, Amazon said it will expand associate well-being programmes, including further investment in Project Ashray, enhance medical and accident insurance coverage, and improve access to government social security benefits for tens of thousands of associates and more than 200,000 community members.
