Nancy Grewal, a 45-year-old Indian-origin social media influencer was stabbed to death in Canada earlier this week.
Speaking to reporters in Jalandhar, Nancy's mother Shinderpal Kaur claimed that she had been receiving threats before her death, reported PTI.
Nancy Grewal was killed in LaSalle, a town in Ontario province on March 3.The LaSalle Police Service confirmed the incident in a social media post.
"Shortly before 9:30 pm on March 3, 2026, emergency services responded to the 2400 block of Todd Lane for a report of a stabbing. A 45-year-old female was located with injuries. She was transported by Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries," the LaSalle Police wrote in a statement shared on ‘X'.

The police later identified the victim as Nancy Grewal and said the investigation into the homicide on Todd Lane is continuing.
What Did Her Family Say?
Kaur urged Canadian authorities to arrest those responsible for the killing. She said that Nancy had faced an earlier attack when her house was set on fire, but she survived that incident. "Nancy continued to receive threats," she said.
Kaur also claimed that a young man with his face covered had once come to Nancy's house to conduct a recce.
"Nancy had installed CCTV cameras at her residence. When she spotted him, he got scared. Had the CCTV cameras not been installed, he could have killed Nancy at her residence," said the mother.

Kaur added that she last spoke to her daughter on March 2. However, Nancy did not answer her calls on March 3.
Who Was Nancy Grewal?
Nancy Grewal was born on January 19 and was of Punjabi origin. She moved to Canada in 2018. According to her mother, she completed a nursing course there and was working with two companies.
She was a resident of Windsor and lived with her pet dog named Bazveer. After her father's death, she had taken responsibility for her mother.
Nancy's father had studied engineering at Sirsa National College in Haryana.

She had built a strong presence on social media, with 1.18 lakh followers on Instagram. She regularly shared posts and videos expressing her views on social and political issues, especially related to Punjab.
Her mother said that Nancy used to share details about many aspects of her life, including about her patients.
Nancy was active online and often spoke about political and social matters. She had publicly expressed views against Khalistani groups. She had also made remarks against pro-Khalistan leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
In recent weeks, she had spoken against Gurinder Singh Dhillon, the head of Radha Soami Satsang Beas, after he met Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia in Nabha Jail on February 2.
