Unites States Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed Washington's wish to sell as much energy to India as it is possible for it to buy.
"We want to sell India as much energy as it will buy," Rubio said while talking to reporters on Thursday. The comments come in the backdrop of the US Secy's planned visit to New Delhi and at a time when America has been receiving a lot of Venezuelan oil across its refineries.
The oil, according to President Donald Trump, is being shipped to and processed at refineries across the country. This includes facilities located in Texas, Louisiana and Alaska.

Notably, Rubio also announced that Venezuela's interim President Delcy Rodríguez will be visiting New Delhi next week, indicating that America's plans for energy supply to India may involve Venezuela's crude oil.
Rubio will travel to India from May 23-26, a spokesperson said in a press release on Tuesday. During his visit to India he will visit Kolkata, Agra, Jaipur, and New Delhi. This will be his first visit to India and he is expected to discuss energy security, trade, and defense cooperation during meetings with senior Indian officials.
US Ambassador Sergio Gor had earlier indicated that Rubio would arrive in New Delhi over the weekend. The visit is expected to anchor key multilateral dialogues and further solidify the strategic partnership between the two countries.
According to media reports, a primary focus of the visit is to participate in a ministerial-level Quad meeting, which is proposed to be hosted by India.
Energy Struggle
The massive energy disruption triggered by the on-going Iran conflict has begun to haunt countries across the globe in the form of price hikes in diesel, petrol, LNG and the like.
India introduced sharp hikes of Rs 3, and then a 90 paise in the span of 4 days to give some respite to its Oil manufacturing companies (OMCs).
