India’s power demand is showing signs of a structural recovery after a muted FY26, with year-to-date demand growth at 4.6% in the first 40–45 days of the new fiscal, JSW Energy Joint Managing Director & CEO Sharad Mahendra told NDTV Profit. He said the West Asia crisis has sharpened India’s focus on energy security and domestic fuel dependence, while stronger electricity consumption, thermal capacity expansion, renewable additions and energy storage will together drive the next phase of growth for the sector.
