US President Donald Trump's team is assembling a "Board of Peace", reaching out to international figures to help guide governance and rebuilding efforts in Gaza following the conflict.
According to a White House statement, the Board of Peace will serve a key function in delivering all 20 elements of the President's plan, overseeing strategy, harnessing global resources, and ensuring transparent execution during Gaza's transition from war to development. Leaders from approximately 60 countries, including Turkiye, Egypt, Russia, India, Argentina, Italy, Pakistan, the UK, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and Jordan, have been invited to participate in the peace initiative.
Trump personally wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a message that was later shared online by the US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor. "Honoured to convey President Trump's invitation to Prime Minister Modi to participate in the Board of Peace which will bring lasting peace to Gaza. The Board will support effective governance to achieve stability and prosperity!" Gor wrote on X.
Heads of States Who Have Been Invited
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Argentine President Javier Milei, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Jordanian King Abdullah II, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Paraguayan President Santiago Pena, Romanian President Nicusor Dan, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to Bloomberg News, the Trump administration has requested that countries contribute a minimum of $1 billion to gain permanent seats, while non-permanent membership would carry no cost.
Founding Executive Board
Last week, the White House announced that a founding executive board has been established to bring the Board of Peace's vision to life under Trump's chairmanship.
The board includes leaders with expertise in diplomacy, development, infrastructure, and economic policy. Appointed members are: Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State Steve Witkoff, Trump's special negotiator Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law Tony Blair, former UK Prime Minister Marc Rowan, billionaire US businessman Ajay Banga, World Bank PresidentRobert Gabriel, a member of the National Security Council
Gaza Executive Board
The White House also announced the creation of the Gaza Executive Board, which will supervise the day-to-day activities of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.
Beyond Witkoff, Kushner, Blair, and Rowan, the Gaza Executive Board will bring together an international mix of figures, including Bulgarian diplomat Nickolay Mladenov, UN humanitarian coordinator Sigrid Kaag, Turkey's Hakan Fidan, Qatari envoy Ali Al-Thawadi, Egypt's General Hassan Rashad, UAE Minister Reem Al-Hashimy, and Israeli businessman Yakir Gabay.
