What To Expect?
Trump announced early on Wednesday that US could end its military campaign against Iran within two to three weeks.
Speaking from the Oval Office, he said, “We'll be leaving very soon,” specifying that the withdrawal could happen “within two weeks, maybe two weeks, maybe three.”
This marks Trump's clearest statement yet about ending the month-long conflict, triggered on Feb. 28.
The conflict, which started after the US‑Israel military strikes on Iran, has caused major disruption to global energy supplies. In response, Iran has restricted passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for about 20% of the world's daily oil flow.
The President's address also comes as thousands across the US protest his policies. The “No Kings” movement, criticising his stance on the Iran war, tightening immigration and rising living costs, has drawn huge crowds to the streets. Demonstrators are demanding accountability, calling for Trump, Vice President JD Vance and others' arrests.
On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Washington could see the “finish line” in the Iran war. “It's not today, it's not tomorrow, but it is coming,” he told Fox News' Hannity.
Trump, in his address, may clarify what comes next for the conflict and whether it will end soon.
