Rumours suggest that smartphone brand OnePlus may shut down its operations in several global markets and shift focus to China and budget segments in India. The company could exit large parts of Europe as early as April 2026, though no official timeline exists, a report by 9to5Mac noted.
Earlier, tipster Yogesh Brar, in a now deleted X post, claimed OnePlus was about to scale down its operations. The development also comes at a time when OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu has quit the company, despite earlier denying shutdown reports.

Brar's post also claimed that the company will be shifting focus to the entry and mid-range market in India. It was unclear why he deleted the viral post.
What We Know About the OnePlus Shutdown
A couple of months ago, Liu assured OnePlus fans the company was not shutting down. Dismissing the rumours, he called it “misinformation.” However, the CEO's departure has once again raised speculations that OnePlus may scale back or exit operations in several global markets.
According to the 9to5Mac report, a section of the staff at OnePlus have been informed of the decision and some have been given severance packages. It also noted that Liu is returning to China following his exit from his position as India head.
“We thank Robin for his contributions to OnePlus India. He moves on to pursue his personal passions, and we wish him the very best for his future endeavours. OnePlus India operations continue with local strategy and business continuity ensured,” the company noted on Liu's exit.
In 2020, OnePlus scaled down European operations after co-founder Carl Pei exited. Since then, the company has been focussing on strengthening ties with its parent company Oppo.
In January, Realme was also shifted under Oppo as a sub-brand. This has also fuelled speculations that OnePlus could follow a similar path. While the major brand has already operated under Oppo since 2021, it may now evolve into a more budget-focused sub-brand, the 9to5Mac report said.
