The iPhone 17 Pro models come in two sizes — 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches — maintaining Apple's distinction between the Pro and Pro Max variants. Both feature Super Retina XDR OLED panels, with peak outdoor brightness now boosted to 3,000 nits, up from 2,000 nits on the iPhone 16 Pro series. Apple also claims outdoor contrast has doubled for better visibility.
For durability, the new Ceramic Shield 2 covers both the front and, for the first time, the back of the devices. Apple says this upgraded material delivers three times more scratch resistance and four times better crack resistance than the previous back glass. The displays continue to support ProMotion refresh rates of up to 120Hz and Always-On functionality.
Apple's iPhone 17 is powered by the A19 chipset and comes with Apple Intelligence. With iOS 26, it gets the visual intelligence, live-translation and the ceramic shield 2 display.

The new iPhone 17 debuts with Ceramic Shield 3 for added durability and is powered by the A19 chipset, designed to deliver Apple’s latest AI features. A new display engine further enhances ProMotion technology for smoother performance.
On the camera front, the iPhone 17 features a 48MP ultra-wide main sensor with OIS, alongside a 12MP telephoto lens with OIS. Apple has also expanded the optical range to deliver sharper macro shots.
The Watch SE 3 supports gestures like double tap, and comes with temperature sensing, sleep apnoea notification, and sleep scores, along with improved battery life.
Expected to be available in 150 regions soon, with FDA clearance in the works.
The Watch Series 11 comes with heart, hearing, sleep, and mental health features, including blood pressure monitoring capabilities, quality of sleep scores, and other fitness features.
AirPods Pro 3 has live translation powered by Apple Intelligence.

The Air is tipped to eliminate USB-C and other traditional ports in favour of a completely wireless setup.
The iPhone 17 Air is anticipated to showcase a sleek profile. With a thickness of 5.5 mm and weighing around 145 gm, it may become the lightest and thinnest iPhone to date. The device is expected to get a titanium-aluminium alloy frame.
The Air is anticipated to come with a single 48MP main rear camera and a 24MP front-facing camera, in addition to supporting Dynamic Island, Face ID, and Always-On feature. The iPhone 17 Air could house a compact yet dense 2,900mAh battery, with a special battery case planned as well.
The base iPhone 17 is expected to be available in the following colours: black, white, pastel blue, and light pink.
Analysts suggest that the iPhone 17 will feature the new and powerful A19 chipset. This is likely to improve both device performance and efficiency. However, it may not see enhancements in RAM and might still include 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM.
Regarding cameras, the standard iPhone 17 is predicted to include an upgraded 24MP front-facing camera, while the wide and ultrawide cameras may remain unchanged. It could pack a 3,600mAh battery.
The base iPhone 17 is anticipated to boast a 6.3-inch display, larger than the 6.1-inch screen found on the iPhone 16. Additionally, the base edition is expected to feature a 120Hz LTPO OLED panel this year, improving from the 60Hz display of its predecessor. An aluminium frame for the iPhone 17 is also likely.
Alongside the iPhone 17 series, Apple is also expected to unveil the new Apple Watch Series 11 and Watch Ultra 3 at today’s launch event. The line-up is likely to include the Watch SE 3 as well. These models are tipped to bring advanced health features and possibly improved battery life.

The iPhone 17 launch will also spotlight Apple's new iOS 26. The update brings the all-new Liquid Glass UI with split views, which has already seen refinements in recent beta versions. More details on features and the release date are expected in just an hour.
Historically, Apple keeps its two non-Pro models from the previous year, offering them at a discount post its latest model launch.
This indicates that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus might still be available on the market, with likely a price cut of $100 (approximately Rs 8,800).
It also means the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus from 2023 are likely to be phased out, although they might be available till the stocks last.
