Shakira Teases New 2026 FIFA World Cup Song 'Dai Dai' With Burna Boy — Watch

Shakira is back on the football map. The Colombian popstar has teased 'Dai Dai,' the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, in collaboration with Nigerian Grammy-winning star Burna Boy. This will be her second World Cup anthem, the first being the vastly popular 'Waka Waka' from the 2010 edition of the tournament.

Shakira Teases 'Dai Dai'

Shakira shared a vibrant one-minute teaser clip from Brazil's iconic Maracanã Stadium, where she appears on the field with various dancers in colorful outfits. The high-energy clip showcases Shakira's signature dance moves and global appeal. She captioned the post: "From Maracaná Stadium, here is "Dai Dai," the @FIFAWorldCup Official Song 2026. Coming 5/14. We're ready! @burnaboy."

The full song will be released on May 14, roughly 4 weeks before the world's biggest sports event. Jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, the tournament runs from June 11 to July 19. This marks Shakira's return to the official FIFA World Cup. She gave one of the biggest hits, her 2010 'Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),' which quickly became a global phenomenon. She also contributed 'La La La' for the 2014 tournament and performed 'Hips Don't Lie - Bamboo' at the 2006 World Cup.

The collaboration highlights FIFA's push for cultural diversity in the tournament's soundtrack, bridging Latin America and Africa. The previous FIFA World Cup 2026 singles, like Echo also featured a diverse collaboration, with Daddy Yankee and Shenseea, bringing together Puerto Rican and Jamaican culture.

Internet Reacts

The announcement quickly sparked widespread excitement on X. Fans hailed the comeback of Shakira to the FIFA world, while a section of users compared Dai Dai to her iconic Waka Waka song.

A user wrote, "I love the song and I am ready . No FIFA world cup song beat the 2010 song omg."

"Fifa really said: 'We messed up, get Shakira on the phone ASAP'  saving the World Cup once again!!," shared another user on X.

A user excitedly shared, "Shakira + Burna Boy for the World Cup anthem is the most undefeated decision FIFA has ever made. 'Dai Dai' bout to be everywhere. You've been warned."

A user commented, "It's like Shakira and Worldcup are two sides of a coin," while another user wrote, "Shakira saved us."

Some drew comparisons to past anthems, with fans debating whether 'Dai Dai' could match the legendary status of 'Waka Waka'. A user wrote, "A mistake. Why? No matter how good the current music is, it still can't beat waka waka. Your hype is still in 2010, not 2026."
