Defence pensioners are required to submit their Digital Life Certificate (DLC) every year to ensure uninterrupted pension payments. The SPARSH portal has streamlined this process, enabling pensioners to complete the submission online without the need to visit offices physically.
Failure to submit the certificate within the stipulated timeline may lead to a temporary halt in pension disbursement until the updated life certificate is provided. To help defence pensioners complete their Digital Life Certificate (DLC) smoothly, here is a simple six-step process through the SPARSH portal, enabling users to finish the process online without visiting offices.
Pensioners To Submit Life Certificate
Also known as the Jeevan Pramaan Patra, Life Certificate is an important document submitted annually by retired central and state government employees to authorised pension disbursing agencies such as banks and post offices to ensure uninterrupted pension payments.
The Life Certificate can be submitted either physically at a bank branch or post office, through doorstep banking services, or online via the digital mode. The process must be completed every year, as the certificate remains valid for only one year from the date of submission.

Step-by-Step Guide to Submit Digital Life Certificate on SPARSH Portal
Step 1: Login to SPARSH Portal - Visit the official SPARSH website and log in using your username and password. After entering your details, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number for verification. New users must first register using their PPO number, PAN details, and mobile number.
Step 2: Go to Digital Life Certificate Section - After logging in, proceed to the 'Digital Life Certificate' section on the dashboard to begin the submission process.
Step 3: Choose Authentication Method - Pensioners can verify their identity using Aadhaar-based authentication, facial recognition via mobile, or biometric methods like fingerprint or iris scans at authorised centres.
Step 4: Use Jeevan Pramaan App - For a fully digital experience, users can download the Jeevan Pramaan app, enter Aadhaar and pension details, and complete authentication using OTP or biometrics.
Step 5: Generate and Submit DLC - After successful verification, the Digital Life Certificate is generated online. Pensioners should carefully check details such as name and date of birth before final submission.
Step 6: Acknowledgement and Tracking - Once submitted, an acknowledgement receipt is issued, and the status can be tracked on the portal. Within a few days, the updated status of the life certificate submission will be reflected on the SPARSH portal, with the next due date typically set around one year from the previous submission date.
Manual Option Still Available
Pensioners can also opt for a Manual Life Certificate (MLC) by downloading the form from the portal, getting it attested by a gazetted officer, and submitting it to the concerned department.
Ensure Timely Submission
Pensioners are advised to complete the process annually, preferably at the start of the financial year or in November, to avoid delays in pension payments. Keeping contact details updated on the portal is also crucial for smooth communication.
