Mumbai India’s Costliest City To Dine Out; Delhi, Bengaluru Feature Among Global Top 100: Report

The cost of dining out for two people at a restaurant could burn a hole in your pocket if you live in Mumbai. A recent global report suggests Mumbai is the most expensive city for a three-course meal for two people at a mid-range restaurant.

Apart from Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru are among the top 100 costliest places to dine out in 2025. A three-course meal for two people at a mid-range restaurant costs around $21, or Rs 1,800, in Mumbai, making it the most expensive Indian city to eat out and the 65th costliest globally.

Mumbai is closely followed by Delhi, where a similar meal costs $20, or about Rs 1,700. In Bengaluru, a three-course meal for two people can cost $18, or Rs 1,540, a Mint report mentioned, citing data from Deutsche Bank. Delhi and Bengaluru stood at 67th and 69th rank globally.

According to the report, Zurich and Geneva, both located in Switzerland, have emerged as the costliest cities to dine out in 2025, with a three-course meal for two at a mid-range restaurant costing around $147 (nearly Rs 12,600). Other cities among the top 10 included Geneva (Switzerland), New York (United States), Copenhagen (Denmark), Boston (US), among others.

All cities in the top 10 list have an average dining cost of at least $110 for a three-course meal for two people. Israel’s Tel Aviv city also made it to the list, ranking 8th, with a meal costing $112 (around Rs 9,500).

The data for this list was sourced from the ‘Mapping the World’s Prices’ report, curated by Deutsche Bank Research and the Numbeo website. Rankings were based on crowd-sourced data from dozens of cities globally.

1.    Zurich, Switzerland: $147.

2.    Geneva, Switzerland: $147.

7.    Oslo, Norway: $120.

Based on data from Numbeo, a crowd-sourced online database on cost of living, the average cost of a three-course meal for two in India is around $14 or Rs 1,200, placing it 124th globally. India is followed by Pakistan and Bangladesh, where similar meals cost about $12.3 or roughly Rs 1,050.

Overall, Switzerland remains the most expensive country to dine out, with an average meal costing $138 (around Rs 11,800).
