- Tata Steel India's production rose 10% YoY to 6.21 million tonnes in Q2 FY27
- India deliveries increased 8% YoY to 5.97 million tonnes in the quarter ended Sept 30
- Automotive and Special Products volumes grew 19% YoY to around 1.1 million tonnes
Tata Steel reported double-digit growth in India production in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, according to its latest business update.
The steelmaker's India production volume rose 10% year-on-year to 6.21 million tonnes during the quarter. India deliveries also increased 8% from a year earlier to 5.97 million tonnes.
Segment-wise breakdown
Automotive and Special Products vertical posted volumes of around 1.1 million tons, rising 9% QoQ and 19% YoY, driven by the ramp-up of Continuous Annealing and Galvanising lines at Kalinganagar and Combi mill at Jamshedpur.
Branded Products and retail segment reported volumes of 2.2 million tons, supported by strong performance of well-established brands and continued market penetration.
Tata Tiscon volumes grew 7% QoQ while Tata Kosh climbed 25% QoQ. Construction & Solutions vertical achieved volumes of ~0.6 million tons, with ready-to-use solutions registering growth of 32% YoY. Engineering and Packaging vertical achieved volumes of 0.4 million tons, up 12% QoQ driven by higher sales to Oil & Gas. Gross Merchandise Value from the company's e-commerce platforms, Tata Steel Aashiyana and DigECA rose 30% quarter-on-quarter to Rs 2,860 crore.

Country-wise, Tata Steel Netherlands liquid steel production during the quarter stood at around 1.52 million tons and deliveries were at 1.30 million tons. Tata Steel UK deliveries for the quarter were at 0.38 million tons, impacted by inventory buildup in the UK supply chain ahead of the implementation of new safeguard measures on July 1, 2026. Tata Steel Thailand saleable steel production was 0.32 million tons and deliveries stood at 0.31 million tons for the quarter. Deliveries were marginally lower QoQ, primarily due to heavy rains in the month of September 2026.
Tata Steel Q1FY27 Results
In the first quarter of fiscal 2027, Tata Steel reported a 21% sequential decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 2,318 crore from Rs 2,926 crore in the previous quarter. The profit was below the Bloomberg consensus estimate of Rs 2,759 crore, according to exchange filings and Street estimates.Tata Steel said its June-quarter earnings were impacted by a one-time loss of Rs 345 crore, which weighed on the bottom line during the period.
Revenue from operations dropped 3.9% quarter-on-quarter to Rs 60,794 crore from Rs 63,270 crore. The topline exceeded analysts' estimate of Rs 58,155 crore.
In terms of operations, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at Rs 9,264 crore, down 5.7% sequentially from Rs 9,828 crore, but ahead of the estimated Rs 9,078 crore. The company's EBITDA margin eased to 15.2% from 15.5% in the March quarter, broadly in line with expectations of 15.6%.
