Golmaal 5: The release date of the film is yet to be announced.

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has officially announced ‘Golmaal 5', the fifth instalment of his blockbuster comedy franchise, with a major surprise for fans: Akshay Kumar is joining the gang.

The announcement came on Shetty's 52nd birthday, when the director shared a behind-the-scenes video from the sets, revealing that shooting for the film had begun. The video shows the familiar faces of the franchise — led by Ajay Devgn — before ending with Akshay Kumar making a grand entry in a completely new look.

Sporting a bald avatar, black kurta-pyjama and dark sunglasses, Akshay walks onto the set and greets Ajay Devgn with a warm hug, leaving fans excited about the new addition to the popular comedy series.

Sharing the clip on social media, Akshay wished the director and teased his role in the film. “Happy Birthday Rohit… On your birthday, the madness just got bigger and louder. Excited to be joining this crazy family of Golmaal 5. Let the chaos begin!” he wrote.

Apart from Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, the film will see the return of the franchise's beloved cast members, including Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu and Tusshar Kapoor. Another major highlight is the comeback of Sharman Joshi, who appeared in the first film of the franchise nearly two decades ago.

Sharman had played the character Laxman Prasad Apte in Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006), and his return has sparked nostalgia among fans.

In the announcement video, Ajay Devgn jokingly teased Akshay's entry by saying, “Koi franchise nahi chhodta hai ye” (He doesn't leave any franchise), drawing laughter from the team.

Although the makers have not shared many details about the plot yet, reports by Sacnilk suggest that Golmaal 5 may revolve around a hidden treasure hunt, with the quirky gang landing in a string of funny misadventures while searching for it.

The film will also mark Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar's first proper comedy together. Though the two actors have previously shared screen space in films like Simmba, Sooryavanshi, Khakee, Insan, and Suhaag, this will be the first time they headline a comedy film together.
