Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over parts of  Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra today, July 5, with the India Meterological Department issuing red alert for Mumbai, Nashik, Palghar, Raigad. In addition to heavy rainfall, low to moderate flash flood risk is likely over parts of Mumbai city, Palghar, Raigarh, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Suburban Mumbai and Thane districts. 

In Mumbai particularly, 4.19-meter high tide is expected on Sunday at 3:22 pm amid continuous heavy downpours and gusty winds of up to 65 kmph, NDTV reported.

Mumbai Rain News Live Updates: Man Killed After Tree Collapses In Kurla

A 63-year-old man died on Sunday after a tree collapsed on a shop amid heavy rainfall in Kurla area of Mumbai, marking the city's second fatal tree-fall incident in less than a week.

The incident occurred around 12.40 pm near the Hindi BMC School in the Naupada locality of Kurla West. The deceased, Yunus Kundawala, was removed from the debris and taken to Fauzia Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Mumbai Rain News Live Updates: Flooding, Landslide Warning In Raigad

District Magistrate Kishan Jawale told ANI, “We have alerted residents in every village within the district that is prone to flooding or landslides. A red alert has been issued, effective until this evening. We have urged people to remain cautious to prevent any untoward incidents or mishaps…we have installed audio alert systems in 225 landslide-prone villages. We have appointed nodal officers for these villages to ensure that alert messages and warnings are regularly communicated to the residents…an NDRF team has arrived…it can be deployed wherever needed, allowing them to cover the entire district.”
