Reserve Bank of India issues the list of bank holidays at the start of every calendar year. Banks in the country remain closed on national holidays and regional festivals, apart from two Saturdays of the month and all Sundays.

The central bank has classified these holidays into three sections: Negotiable Instruments Act, Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks' Closing of Accounts.

While services at bank branches remain suspended on these holidays, customers are advised to plan their visits to banks in advance after checking the regional holiday calendar. Customers can continue to avail online banking services that remain fully functional on all days. This means, people can use services like UPI payments, net banking and ATM transactions, among others.
