Jet Airways India Ltd. said its accountable manager is resigning months before the long-grounded airline was to resume operations.

Sudhir Gaur was appointed in July 2021 as vice president of operations and later designated as accountable manager of the carrier, according to its exchange filing released late on Wednesday. An accountable manager has authority to ensure tasks approved by the organisation are financed and executed to standards required by the aviation regulator, and in most cases is the chief executive officer.

The company said its monitoring committee has provided in-principle approval to the nomination of Captain Priyapal Singh as its new accountable manager.

BloombergQuint had earlier reported that Singh will be succeeding Gaur. Singh is a former senior vice president of operations at Jet Lite, a unit of Jet Airways. In his last stint, he was an examiner of A-330 planes for Nepal Airlines.

Gaur was promoted to accountable manager or acting chief executive officer by Jet Airways' new owner—a consortium of British firm Kalrock Capital and U.A.E.-based entrepreneur Murari Lal Jalan.

To be sure, Jet Airways is yet to appoint a chief executive officer.

The exit comes weeks after the consortium approached India's bankruptcy tribunal to fast-track the carrier's resolution with a fund infusion. At that time it had said it plans to start its operations "at the earliest" in 2022 as a full-service carrier.
