The Kareena Kapoor-starrer Jaane Jaan was the most watched movie in India in the second half of 2023, according to Netflix's Engagement Report released on Friday.

The most-watched movie title on Netflix was Leave the World Behind, starring Ethan Hawke and Julia Roberts, generating 121 million views, followed by Adam Sandler's animated film Leo garnering 96 million views, as per the latest Netflix Engagement Report.

The report titled, 'What We Watched in the Second Half of 2023' offered insight into viewing habits of the audience from July to December 2023, covering 99% of all viewing activity on the platform.

Shows under Netflix's original category have amassed views in millions. Its title Lupin drew a viewership of 100 million across its first three parts. The children's series Cocomelon had a viewership of 200 million across eight seasons.

Other titles like The Witcher, Virgin River, The Crown, and Sweet Magnolias were among popular choices for the audience. Fan favourites such as Wednesday, Red Notice, and Squid Game continued to attract millions of viewers.

Non-English language content accounted for nearly a third of all viewing. Standouts included Dear Child from Germany, Forgotten Love from Poland, and Pact of Silence from Mexico.

In terms of overall viewership, Netflix users watched a staggering 90 billion hours of content in the second half of 2023.

Top Films In India

Series and movies from India clocked over one billion views on Netflix in 2023, with Jaane Jaan being the most watched film and The Railway Men the most watched series.

Jaane Jaan had 20.2 million views, followed by Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan with 16.2 million views, and Vishal Bhardwaj's Khufiya with 12.1 million views.

Other popular titles included OMG 2 with 11.5 million views, Lust Stories 2 with 9.2 million views, Dream Girl 2 with 8.2 million views and true-crime documentary Curry & Cyanide with 8.2 million views.
