Cred founder Kunal Shah recently sparked a heated debate on X (formerly Twitter) with his controversial remark about "mediocre people."
On May 25, the credit card bill payment app founder posted, "Mediocre people often have a clear tell: you'll often see them hanging out with other mediocre people, probably because the A+ folks avoid them."
The comment quickly went viral, amassing over a million views and numerous comments.
The post received a mixed response from netizens with users expressing both agreement and disapproval.
One user-supported Shah's view, stating, "Mediocre people stick together because they're too weak to handle the greatness of A+ players. If you're surrounded by losers, it’s time to level up your circle."
Another user echoed this sentiment, adding, "Solid point. It's crucial to curate your circle. Surround yourself with those who uplift and inspire rather than settling for mediocrity."
One more commenter drew a comparison, stating, "That's why a bus has 50 seats & a Lamborghini has 2 seats. It's always lonely at the top."
However, not all responses were positive. One user sarcastically thanked Shah, writing, "Thank you for making me realise and appreciate the importance of being mediocre."
A more critical comment read, "It's funny to see 'you' writing this, who himself is the most known mediocre start-up founder of India. Let me tell you something which you may not know; your name is used as a joke and example outside India while discussing copy-paste start-ups or the mediocrity of start-ups."

Live a little, Kunal, and think a little less, perhaps. An incredibly full life can be lived by both a mediocre, an A+ person, and every type of stupid definition in between."
