Air India has announced on Tuesday that it has cancelled all its flights to and from Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah until October 17, 2026, citing the evolving situation related to war in Saudi Arabia.

In a post on X, the airline said it is closely monitoring and assessing developments in the region so that it can resume operations safely.

Air India Express cancelled all their flights to and from the aforementioned places.

"In view of the evolving situation in the region, we have cancelled flights to and from Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh until 17 October. Affected guests are being offered complimentary rescheduling or a full refund on cancellation. We continue to monitor the situation closely," an Air India Express spokesperson said.

Tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthis have escalated sharply over the past week.

On Saturday, a missile attack on Saudi Arabia's King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh killed 12 people and injured 309 others in what was described as repeated assaults on civilians and civilian infrastructure.

An Indian national died in the attack, while 11 other Indians were reported injured, the Indian Embassy said on Sunday.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed grief over the death and assured support to the bereaved family of the victim.

Akasa Air on Sunday extended its suspension of flights to Riyadh and Jeddah until October 13. Earlier, on Tuesday, IndiGo, another India-based airline, suspended its flights to Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah until October 17.
