Gunshots were reported near the Israeli Consulate in Istanbul on Tuesday, in which at least three people ​were killed, said reports.

The incident was said to have taken place near the consulate in the Levent district, prompting a rapid security response in the area.

According to Reuters report, two ‌police officers were also injured in a gunfire incident.

Multiple police teams and emergency medical personnel were rushed to the scene following reports of gunfire in the vicinity of the diplomatic premises.

According to the report, one injured person was taken into custody. However, authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the detained individual or clarified their role in the incident. 

Security was tightened across the area as investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Officials have yet to issue a comprehensive statement outlining the motive behind the shooting or whether additional suspects are being sought.

No group has claimed responsibility so far.
