Housefull 5, a comedy thriller starring Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh, has minted Rs 91.83 crore in the opening weekend at box office.
Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the multi-starrer film has been backed by Sajid Nadiadwala's Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. It hit theatres worldwide on June 6.
Housefull 5 started on a good note and earned Rs 24.35 crore on its opening day (Friday), followed by a 32.9% jump on Saturday, when it bagged Rs 32.38 crore. On its first Sunday, the film witnessed a 8% jump and collected Rs 35.10 crore. This takes the film's cumulative domestic total to Rs 91.83 crore in the opening weekend, according to trade Analyst Taran Adarsh.
"The wonderful weekend performance of #Housefull5 once again reinforces a simple truth: *well-made mass entertainers* will always be the top choice of moviegoers," Adarsh wrote in a post on X.

On Sunday, the film saw an overall Hindi occupancy of 39.52%, as per Sacnilk. The film saw 17.72% occupancy in morning shows, which improved to 58.80% in afternoon and 54.77% in evening shows. In the night shows, the film saw 36.78% seat occupancy.
The film had 1,195 shows in the National Capital Region (NCR) and saw an occupancy of 38.50%, while its 811 shows in Mumbai witnessed 45.25% footfalls.
As per the latest estimates, the film has earned Rs 25 lakh on the fourth day (Monday).

The film also features Ranjeet, Nana Patekar, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Chitrangada Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Soundarya Sharma, Chunky Pandey, Nikitin Dheer and Johnny Lever. Veteran actors Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff are seen as police officers.
Housefull 5 is set on a giant cruise ship where a billionaire is marking his birthday with a star-studded affair. As he decides to give his inheritance to 'Jolly', Akshay, Abhishek and Riteish claim to be the rightful heir to the huge fortune.
Things go upside down as the trio become suspect of killing the billionaire, while Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff enter the story to solve the murder mystery.
Interestingly, the makers have shot two climaxes for the film, with each of them being shot separately, setting them apart from the previous films in the much-loved franchise.
Subsequently, two different prints -- Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B -- were released in cinemas, with each of them revealing a different killer.
The first installment in the Housefull franchise came out in 2010. It was followed by the release of Housefull 2 in 2012, Housefull 3 in 2016 and Housefull 4 in 2019.
