Sam Altman took to social media platform 'X' on Saturday to talk about the "coolest meeting" he had in the ongoing week with Paul S. Conyngham.

Conyngham is a senior data scientist who took help from various AI-powered large language models to develop a personalised vaccine to save his cancer-stricken pet dog.

"The coolest meeting I had this week with was Paul, who used ChatGPT and other LLMs to create an mRNA vaccine protocol to save his dog Rosie. It is an amazing story," Altman said.

Altman also posted an excerpt from Conyngham's long-form article on 'X', where the data-scientist clarified that the creation of the vaccine was the result of "real scientific design work" to convert genomic data into a vaccine prescription and creating a treatment framework around it and not a single prompt given to an LLM.

He stated that, it was the result of the collaboration with the chatbot which "empowered" him "to act with the power of a research institute undertaking  planning, education, troubleshooting, compliance.

"It immediately got me thinking 'this should be a company'," Altman said.

"Also, Paul is an extraordinary guy. This should be easy to do, but it is not yet," he added.

Conyngham in his post detailed the process of speaking to veternarians, and collaborating with a team from a cancer research institute. This was for DNA analysis and sequencing measures to develop a cure that could suppress his dog Rosie's cancer.

The data scientist used a plethora of methods along with the use of AI to drastically reduce the time and expense required for analysis and complex 3D modelling to study his dog's cancer. Conyngham was hit with a dead end when the protein required to block the cancer cells from multiplying was put behind a patent, legally barring him from using it.

Conyngham then decided to create a personalised vaccine so that the dog's immune system could fight the cancer on it's own, an attempt which was successful.
