The Rajasthan Royals will kick off their Indian Premier League 2025 campaign by facing Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
The winners of the inaugural edition of the IPL finished 3rd last year. RR beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the eliminator by four wickets but lost to SRH in Qualifier 2.
For the mega auctions last year, Rajasthan Royals (RR) had the smallest purse as they had already splurged big on their six retentions.
Rajasthan Royals retained captain Sanju Samson and batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal for Rs 18 crore each. Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag were retained for Rs 14 crore each, while Shimron Hetmyer, was retained for Rs 11 crore. Yorker and power-play specialist Sandeep Sharma was retained for Rs 4 crore.
With Rs 41 crore remaining for the auctions, RR bought Jofra Archer for Rs 12.5 crore, Tushar Deshpande for Rs 6.50 crore, and Wanindu Hasaranga for Rs 5.25 crore.

Sanju Samson Injury Update
As per news agency PTI, Sanju Samson has completed his recovery process after undergoing surgery on his right index finger recently. He had suffered the injury during the home T20I series against England.
While the BCCI Centre of Excellence phyisos have been satisfied with Samson's ability to bat without any struggle, they would want to take a closer look at his comfort levels while wicketkeeping.
If Samson is not allowed to keep wickets then Dhruv Jurel can take up that role during the IPL.
