Things change very quickly in sports. A team or a player will be hailed one day and the same team or player would be ridiculed a few days later.

There is no better example of this than what is happening with Sanju Samson currently. The star batter was being showered with all the praise and love for his majestic show during the T20 World Cup.

However, things have gone downwards ever since the Indian Premier League began. The 31-year-old was expected to carry his good form from the World Cup into the new season of the IPL.

CSK are languishing at the bottom of the points table after suffering three successive defeats. Samson's life at CSK is also off to a terrible start as he been dismissed on the scores of 6,7 and 9 in these three games. While there are numerous reasons for CSK's failures, what is irking the CSK faithfuls is how Samson is carrying himself on the field!

A CSK fan highlighted this on X and vented his frustration, directly tagging Samson in his post. He claimed the player looked disinterested and lacked energy, intent, and fight.

Flemming Backs Samson

As Samson faces the ire of the fans, he has found support in team head coach Stephen Fleming.

“It's difficult when you've been at a franchise for some time, and even though he probably feels pretty comfortable, there's still an element of belonging," Fleming said after the team's loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. "He's going through the process of connecting with this team, and the team has had five or six changes, so it's not a settled side."

“So there's a little bit of work to be done off the field, which we're doing, just to make the bonds a bit tighter. But he's fine. He's fitted in really well. He's desperate for some runs and to contribute, along with Ruturaj and the other senior players.”  added the 53-year-old.
