An initial assessment of the blast site near the Red Fort in Delhi indicated the suspects may have panicked and made a mistake while carrying the explosives, top intelligence sources told NDTV today.
The raids on terror suspects across the country for the most part of the day on Monday, and the recovery of 2,900 kg of chemical used in bomb-making in Haryana's Faridabad may have triggered a panic situation for the suspects and compelled them to relocate, the sources said.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a compensation for victims of the blast near Red Fort. The families of those who lost their lives will be given Rs 10 lakh, permanently disabled individuals will receive Rs 5 lakh, and those seriously injured will be provided Rs 2 lakh.
"The tragic incident that occurred in Delhi has left the entire city in shock. In this hour of difficulty, the Government of Delhi extends its deepest condolences to all those families who have lost their loved ones and to those who have been injured in this incident. The Government of Delhi stands firmly with every affected family, and we have taken a compassionate decision for immediate relief," she said.
As per reports, 12 have died in the incident and over 20 injured.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation informed that the Red Fort or Lal Quila Metro station will remain shut on Nov. 12 as well because of security reasons. All the other stations will remain functional.

The three doctors held by authorities are Muzammil Shakeel, Umar Mohammed, and Shaheen Shahid. Muzammil and Umar. They are from Kashmir, and Shaheen is from Lucknow, and all three had been working at the Faridabad hospital, investigators have found.

Shaheen Shahid, a Lucknow-based woman doctor, was tasked with setting up Jaish-e-Mohammed's women's wing in India and recruiting members, reports NDTV.

Several people were injured in a blast outside a court in Pakistan's national capital on Tuesday, local media reported. The explosion was reported near a district and sessions court in the G-11 area, according to the Dawn newspaper.
The latest incident comes a day after an explosion involving a parked car was reported near the Red Fort in New Delhi in which 12 people were killed and several others injured.
Police took the mother of the man who was suspected to be driving the car that exploded near the Red Fort for a DNA test in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said in Pulwama. "We have taken the mother of the suspect to collect DNA samples in order to match with the parts found at the scene of the blast," an official said.
Umar was allegedly driving the Hyundai i20 car that was used in the blast near the parking area of the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday, killing at least 12 people. He hails from Koil village in Pulwama, they said. Two brothers of the suspect accompanied their mother to the hospital. The officials said three persons, who were linked to sale and purchase of the car involved in the blast, have been detained for questioning.

Aamir Rashid Mir, who is accused of helping the suspected Delhi bomber Umar Mohammad, told NDTV that he has "never been anywhere outside of Kashmir". The family said that the picture of him standing in front of a car may be edited or AI-generated.

Prime Narendra Modi said that all conspirators of the Delhi blast that killed 12 people will be "brought to justice". Addressing a gathering at the Changlimithang celebration ground in Bhutan, the prime minister said that Monday's "horrifying" blast in Delhi shocked everyone. "I understand the plight of those affected by the blast," he said, stressing that today the entire nation stands with the families of the victims.
"All those responsible for it will be brought to justice," the prime minister said.
Modi said he was in a meeting with agencies and people involved in the blast's investigation overnight on Tuesday. Our agencies will get to the bottom of the conspiracy, and no conspirator will be spared, he said.

The Supreme Court paid homage to the victims of the car blast near the Red Fort here, and said the top court is committed to uphold the rule of law. Chief Justice of India B R Gavai said in this hour of grief, the Supreme Court stands with the citizens of the country. The death toll in the blast near Red Fort rose to 12, with three more people succumbing to injuries. Till last night, nine people were confirmed to have died in the blast and 20 others were injured. The police now said that three more people have succumbed to injuries taking the toll to 12.

According to sources, Umar Mohammad, a Pulwama resident and a doctor, was allegedly driving the Hyundai i20 car that was used in the explosion near the parking area of the Red Fort Metro Station.
Preliminary findings by police suggest ammonium nitrate, fuel oil and detonators may have been used in the blast near the Red Fort that killed at least nine people, police sources said.

According to the Delhi Police, CCTV footages from multiple routes leading to Red Fort has been scrutinised. These include areas from Badarpur Border to Sunehri Masjid and fromthe Outer Ring Road to Kashmere Gate. Around 200 personnel reviewed the footage, identifying 13 suspicious individuals who are currently being questioned.
The UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has issued a travel advisory for India, advising against non-essential travel to certain areas. The advisory includes avoiding all travel within 10km of the India-Pakistan border, where the Wagah-Attari border crossing is currently closed.
Additionally, the FCDO advises against all travel to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, except for air travel to and from Jammu city and travel within Jammu city. The FCDO also recommends against all but essential travel to the state of Manipur, including the capital Imphal, due to ongoing violent ethnic clashes and curfews.

A high-level meeting will be held at the Ministry of Home Affairs today, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, to discuss the blast near Red Fort.
The meeting scheduled at 9.30 am will be attended by IB Chief, Home Secretary, Delhi Police Commissioner, Special Secretary (Internal Security) and other senior MHA officials. The agenda is to review all aspects of internal security.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Chandni Chowk market will be closed on Tuesday, said market president Sanjay Bhargaw. Bhargaw's shop is about 800 metres away from the incident site. He said the entire building shook due to the blast. There was chaos in the market as people started running, he shared.
According to NDTV, Jaish-e-Muhammad operatives are likely behind the attack, connected with arrests made in Faridabad and Saharanpur.

Delhi Police have obtained CCTV footage showing the suspect’s car entering and exiting the parking area. The footage indicates that the suspect was alone at the time. Investigators are now tracing the route towards Daryaganj, while more than 100 CCTV clips, including footage from nearby toll plazas, are being examined to establish the complete movement of the vehicle.

Red Fort blast in New Delhi is now officially being probed as a terror attack. Delhi Police have invoked Section 16 and Section 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in the Red Fort blast FIR, covering acts of terrorism and related punishment. They have also added Sections 3 and 4 of the Explosive Substances Act, along with charges of murder and attempt to murder, reports NDTV.
