Singer-songwriter Billie Eilish isn't holding back — whether it's about politics, fame, or her bond with brother Finneas. In a recent interview with Elle magazine, the singer opened up about why she continues to speak out on tough issues, and also shut down rumours of a rift with her closest collaborator.

Talking about her outspoken nature, Eilish made it clear that staying silent was never an option for her. “I was raised like this,” she said. “When you have this insane platform… why not use it? Why is it controversial to step in when someone's getting bullied and try to stop it?” she asked.

She admitted that speaking up can bring backlash, but that doesn't stop her. “Yeah, you're probably gonna have to deal with some problems, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it,” she added.

At this year's Grammys, Eilish drew attention by sporting an “ICE Out” pin and spoke openly during her acceptance speech for the “Windflower” song. “No one is illegal on stolen land. We need to keep fighting and speaking up. Our voices really do matter, and f*** ICE,” she said, before ending with a blunt message against ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement).

Her criticism of wealth inequality has also been just as direct. At the Wall Street Journal Innovator Awards last year, she questioned billionaires openly.

“If you're a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah, give your money away,” she said in front of an audience that included figures like Mark Zuckerberg. A few days later, she also took aim at Elon Musk on social media for not using his wealth for humanitarian causes.

She also addressed rumours about her relationship with her brother Finneas, especially after touring without him for the first time. She dismissed the speculation completely. “Finneas and I have never and will never have a falling-out,” she said.

“We'll have the biggest fight… and five minutes later we're laughing again,” she shared.

For Eilish, that bond goes beyond music. “There's nothing like sibling relationships,” she said, adding that her connection with Finneas is something she can't imagine working without—even as both of them continue to grow in their own careers.
