A woman has alleged that she was denied entry at a PVR Inox cinema for carrying an emergency hypoglycemia (hypo) kit required to manage her Type 1 diabetes condition.
She claimed that the incident took place despite her explaining the medical necessity of carrying the kit, and accused the cinema staff of discriminatory behaviour.
Woman Shares Experience On Social Media
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Jyotsana Rangeen shared her experience and alleged that she was stopped from entering a PVR property with her emergency hypo kit. She said she had explained that the kit was essential due to her Type 1 diabetes condition, but was still denied entry.
In her post, Rangeen claimed that the manager told her, "If you have this condition, you shouldn't come to watch a movie." She described the incident as discrimination and urged PVR Cinemas to provide awareness training to its staff regarding medical conditions and emergency requirements.

PVR Responds To The Allegation
Responding to the post, PVR Cinemas apologised for the experience and acknowledged the importance of a Type 1 diabetes kit. The cinema chain stated that the incident did not reflect the experience it aims to provide to customers.
PVR Cinemas requested Rangeen to share her contact details, cinema location and show details through direct message so that the matter could be investigated on priority. The company responded, "We're truly sorry to hear about your experience. We understand how essential a Type 1 diabetes kit is and regret the inconvenience caused."
