The Peaky Blinders official page on Instagram shared the first look of Jamie Bell as Duke Shelby. The caption read, "A new era of Peaky Blinders. Jamie Bell leads the new generation as Duke Shelby, alongside Charlie Heaton, Jessica Brown Findlay, Lashana Lynch and Lucy Karczewski. The Peaky Blinders world is reignited in new series set in the 1950s, ten years on from the events of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man."

The series will reportedly consist of two six-episode seasons, with filming already underway in Birmingham. Produced by Banijay UK's Kudos and Garrison Drama, the series will stream on the BBC in the UK and Netflix worldwide.

The creator and writer of Peaky Blinders gave a glimpse of the story and spoke about the cast to Netflix's companion website Tudum. He said, "I am thrilled that we are announcing a new era of Peaky Blinders, moving the story to post-war Birmingham in the early 50s. We are incredibly fortunate to have Jamie Bell taking the role of Tommy Shelby's oldest son, Duke, and to have Charlie Heaton also leading the cast."

As reported by Variety, the official logline read, "In this new era of Peaky Blinders, a decade after World War Two, the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy. At its blood-soaked heart is Duke Shelby: older, wiser, more ambitious, and most certainly more dangerous."
