Illumination-produced The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has officially been released in theatres and social media has already become a platform of debate for critics and fans.

After saving Princess Peach from marrying Bowser, Mario and Luigi now have to face a new threat. Bowser's son, Bowser Jr., is stirring up trouble. He's determined to free his father from captivity.

To stop him, the brothers have to leave home and travel deep into space. With the help of some old friends and a few new faces they meet along the way, Mario and Luigi are racing across the stars to end Bowser Jr.'s mission before he can bring his father back.

This sequel to the 2023 movie has ignited a debate among fans. While a lot of fans claim the plot was fast-paced, some of them appreciated the scenes and animations.

Here are a few Super Mario Galaxy Movie X reviews;

A fan commented, "Mario Galaxy Review without spoilers. Painfully mediocre until the last 35 minutes. Jokes weren't landing.  Great references and scenery. They're definitely making a Smash movie. Second post-credit scene made me happy. It's not that bad."

"I just got done watching the movie with my son (he's 10).  We both loved every minute of it, and plan to go see it again next week. Once again, the corporate reviewers are wildly out of touch with audiences," a user on X commented.

Talking about the pace of the movie, another user shared, "Super Mario Galaxy Movie: Overwhelming visual treat but it needed to slow way down. The action set pieces every 20 mins felt mandated by suits instead of allowing the lows to breathe. Still dunno why they spoiled Fox on their own. Weird. 6/10"

Despite critical reviews, The Super Mario Galaxy movie is doing really well at the box office. As per Box Office Mojo, the movie locked in $34.5 million as its opening day collection in North America, beating Project Hail Mary.
